Hello athletes,

I hope you all had a great summer and have settled into your school year and volleyball season.  In my travels while coaching high school boys, I’ve been fortunate to see some of you in the gym and I always enjoy the hello.

Planning for the upcoming club season is well underway and this letter contains some information that is timely to share. Wave will be offering two competitive teams for the upcoming club season. One team will compete in the 17U age category. Athletes born after September 1, 2002 are age eligible for consideration.  The second team will compete as 14U and athletes born after September 1, 2005 are age eligible for consideration.

For the upcoming season, I will coach the 17U team.  The 14U team will be coached by Julie Young. Julie may add coaches to her age group as the season approaches and will communicate her plans as they are confirmed. Jesse Knight will provide technical and tactical support to coaches and athletes throughout the season.

For roster assembly, the 14U group can expect to tryout.  The size of the roster will be determined through the tryout process.  We will communicate tryout dates in a subsequent email, but our intention is complete tryouts prior to both Crush and Strikers tryout dates.  The 17U group may or may not have a formal tryout process.  We recognize that November is the competition season for high school and its important that athletes interested in playing 17U, focus on their high school season without the added scheduling of club work outs.  However, we will organize ourselves quickly after December 1st.

Prospective athletes for either age will be advised of our plans through Crush and Strikers clubs or presented generally through the training programs in Campbell River and Comox.  To best prepare for the club season its recommended that athletes maximize their attendance, focus and effort at the training programs provided in each community.

I’m hoping to have the website updated within a couple of weeks and will drive information to it when ready.
