I grew up in Courtenay and after 10 years in Vancouver returned to the North Island to work, play and coach volleyball. My 15 years experience coaching club volleyball includes a 3rd place finish along with numerous top 8 placements in the Provincial championships. As president of CRUSH I was honored with the Volleyball BC’s Volunteer Administrator Award. I have completed level 2 technical for beach and will have completed level 2 coaching for indoor by the end of the year.
The Wave volleyball club technical team of Julie Young and Jesse Knight helps the athletes grow but also gives me the opportunity to continue to learn and improve my craft.
When I am not coaching, I am a Volunteer Team Leader for InnovativeCommunities.org. This a 100% volunteer organization with no religious affiliation that works to alleviate poverty and increase education around the world. My focus is Nepal where I lead irrigation, education and Women’s health projects.
I have a passion to teach the life skills that the great sport of volleyball brings. My hope is always to see athletes grow into better players but also better people. Besides technical skills, volleyball teaches team work, sacrifice, hard work, support and perseverance which will help athletes transition into their lives as young adults.
